I Quit My Membership in the Daily Ibuprofen Club
It was during a daily commute while listening to the local Catholic radio station that I heard an ad that caught my ear. I was kind of looking for something else to do that didn't involve working for someone else. I was also looking for "something" that would provide a more promising outlook for the future. I remember hearing Hope and the web address and decided to check it out. But I was skeptical of "income" from the kitchen table and after having used many products in the past.
As a health and wellness professional I have used supplementation of some sort most of my adult life and have maintained fairly good health habits along the way. So using supplements was nothing new but hearing the results I was hearing was almost too good to be true.
My current ambition is to participate in mud runs or obstacle course races that are 3-10 miles with anywhere from 15-22 obstacles along the way. Setting these goals is my way to keep me consistent with daily exercise and good eating habits. So with the suggestions of other teammates I assembled a plan to keep me at my strongest to maintain fitness levels, recover from workouts, stay focused during my trail runs and obtain better sleep habits.
AT 54 years old and pretty active and overall healthy, I didn't have major health issue to contend with but did suffer from daily joint pain and muscle aches from the harder workouts on an aging body. I had listened to others and their stories of some amazing and dramatic results and was curious and anxious to see how I would benefit from another "new and improved" supplement.
At the time I was training for a Tough Mudder, which is 12 miles long and like the granddaddy of obstacle runs. My knees and right shoulder was really bothering me, so figured if there is some relief there I would be satisfied.
My results were subtle, but none the less impressive. I was a member of the daily ibuprofen club to help manage pain and with my consistent use and "tweeking" of dosages, was beginning to really notice some impressive results. My energy and endurance levels increased so I could adapt to the longer workouts. My focus during the trail runs improved after about 45 minutes into the runs. This focus is important when you have to watch for anything that could result in turned ankles or twisted knees. Soon I started to notice a lot less knee and shoulder pain the day after the longer training sessions, which resulted in taking less to no ibuprofen. And my sleep patterns improved, which allowed for better recovery and more alertness during the day.
After some consistent encouragement, my skeptical wife started taking the products. She also had been suffering from hip and knee pain and high blood pressure. She had a significant decrease in the joint pain and after several months of use went to her checkup and had normal blood pressure. My college age son, like me, also likes the mud runs and takes the supplements for prevention and to improve his workout strength, recovery, gain weight and most importantly, help reduce stress and improve his ability to focus on his assignments.
Grace, my youngest, suffers from occasional intense headaches and is using specialized products before bed and has been able to reduce the intensity and number of headaches. A nice welcome to the bedtime routine. The others take them for preventative measures to reduce the chances of whatever "bug" is going around the school. I work the business very part time and continue to increase my time building it. I have received a check every month with the best month being $500. With kids in private schools and my work as a physical therapist assistant sometime on unsteady grounds, every little bit helps. And we have better health, which in the big picture helps reduce our use of the health care system. I have hope for my own future and have that ability to share hope with everyone I come in contact with. It's a win-win for everyone and we get to meet some incredible people in the process.
